In everything we do from our beer to our food, we challenge the idea that tradition is destined to be broken and that perfection is bad. Exclusivity means exclusion, and we live to share. We are creative thinkers who design and brew fiendishly good, traditional beers which challenge traditional thinking —these are great beers that are supporting a lively and diverse community through sharing, education, and unwavering quality.
Community
We work to build an inclusive community of beer and food enthusiasts.
Collaboration
We strive to build relationships and collaborate with our community organizations to help fight poverty, food insecurity, and social injustice.
Trust
We maintain a community gathering space where everyone may come to learn about beer, share a pint, and share a story in a safe, inviting environment.
Honesty/Integrity
We are honest, even when it is difficult. We listen and seek first to understand.
Respect
We treat everyone with dignity, regardless of background or differences.
Excellence
We nurture our talent for unusually good products and strive to surpass ordinary standards. We shall share no beer before its time.
The Starters
We are a wife-and-husband team who share a common love of food and craft beverages, whether they be beer, wine, or spirits. We have been homebrewing for over eighteen years, and while other homebrewers were experimenting with recipes – mainly hops and unusual ingredients – we have spent the vast majority of our homebrewing careers perfecting our technique and our understanding of what makes an exceptional beer. Ever since our first visit to Brussels in 2005, we have endeavored to perfect these time-tested beer styles. This has lead to a home brewery reminiscent of commercial operations, including conical fermenters and glycol chillers.
We have been a part of the Seattle beer scene for almost twenty years, having stewarded for the 2006 World Beer Cup and volunteered for many local beer festivals. In our never-ending quest to perfect our beer, we've brought our beer to industry professionals (brewers, brewery/pub/restaurant owners, distributors) to sample and critique. We are finally following the advice of many of these insiders, who have insisted we open our own place to share our product with a wider audience.

This year's Big Brew fell on Star Wars day: May the Fourth. And yes, of course we made it a themed party! What were YOU thinking?

Yeah, I know… our last story was in May 2023. We had a couple reality-checks since then. This is the first one.
August to October 2023, rabbit-holes
This didn't go as smoothly as we expected it to go.
